Even though the official change of seasons is still 2 weeks away, it has definitely already started here in Bangalore. Summer is right around the corner and we are sprinting to get there first.
The first sign of summer here in South India is, who would have guessed, a change in temperature. A couple weeks ago when sitting in the shade the wind would still have a "chill", but suddenly over the course of a weekend the wind has warmed up and now feels more like a hairdryer on the hottest setting.
The heat obviously has an effect on the plants; in many countries the trees loosing their foliage means the coming of fall and winter, but not so here in Bangalore. Trees are massively dumping their leaves, trying to conserve energy as much as possible.

And lastly one of the prettiest signs of being on the fringe of summer are the beautiful yellow blooming trees everywhere. These "golden shower trees" (this is the official name!) fill the streets and are a colorful reminder of the change of season.
The newspaper is warning us for a couple of very hot summer months, heat waves and drought are in our foreseeable future. They are predicting one of the hottest years in over a century... So, let's rejoice in the fact that we have ceiling fans and airconditioning units, as long as we have power we should be able to survive another Indian summer.
