Months ago I wrote about how awesome it was to have milk delivered to your doorstep. This is still true as long as you can rely on this delivery...
The milk here in India does not stay well very long. 5 days is an absolute maximum and many times it is spoiled before then. Therefore having milk delivered twice a week is the bare minimum.
For the past 2 weeks I've been SMS-ing and calling because the delivery got totally messed up. You RELY on the milk being there and thus do not have any leftovers. When the milk does not show up on Monday, I normally just send an SMS and then it arrives on Tuesday. But on Tuesday there was again no milk... Another SMS for delivery on Wednesday without any result. So by now we are totally out of milk and I decide to go to the supermarket and buy it myself (Whatttt?).
On Friday the 2 liters of milk were waiting outside, so everything seemed to be fine again. But on Monday again no milk - Sigh. I decide to call the customer service, and they were very understanding and promised me the milk will be there the next day. I'm sure things will be fine now, but unfortunately on Tuesday again no milk! So again I call the customer service and I tell them that I'm pretty fed up with all of this and if they cannot keep their delivery promise I will cancel my whole contract. Again sorry, sorry, sorry, tomorrow it will be there for sure... Guess what; Wednesday again nothing! So I call and let them know, using very clear wording, that I want to cancel the contract. They pleat for me to wait, have them sort things out and they'll call me back in 5 minutes. An hour later I'm still waiting - beyond annoyed, so I'm the one calling back but now they won't pick up the phone anymore...
Luckily for me, I still have a phone number of the person who set up the delivery contract in the first place, so I decide to give him a call. I explain what has been happening and ask if he can help me. And lo and behold on Thursday there is one liter of milk on my doorstep and on Friday another two liters! On Saturday another one, and again this Monday two more, (we're having milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner nowadays) so the cancellation of the contact is on hold for now...
