For our "spring vacation" we recently visited Rajasthan, the state South West of India's capitol Delhi. Rajasthan is known as the desert state, but still has a couple large cities.
Again, expecting a big city like Bangalore, with Bangalore traffic, Jaipur is nothing like it! Even thought Jaipur is the biggest city of Rajasthan it feels small, rural even quint. The traffic is laughably non existent. Crossing the street is still a hazard comparing to most Western countries, but compared to Bangalore it was easy-peasy.
And as soon as you get outside the city (which doesn't take 2 hours like it does in Bangalore) it becomes green and lush. There are lakes and it is absolutely gorgeous! Rajasthan a desert state...? Well, the more you drive to the West, towards the Pakistani boarder, the drier and dustier it gets. But even the desert landschape has it's charm.
It was absolutely great to see an other, very beautiful, albeit more touristy, part of India. Just as a reminder that India is so much more than just good ol' Bangalore.
