Last week we saw frequent blue skies between some heavy rains. People said the monsoon had started, but this was denied by the meteorologist, according to them the "official" monsoon would only start on the 9th or 10th of June.
On Friday the 9th the winds were a lot stronger, so there was a definite change in the weather and from Saturday on the skies are mainly grey. Drizzle comes and goes and it's noticeably cooler. I guess the first monsoon of 2017 has arrived in Bangalore.
After the recent drought the rains are very welcome for the people. The water is desperately needed for the land as well as for consumption. Drinking water was ransomed, some localities would only see a water truck every fortnight. Woman would be waiting for hours only to fight over who would get the water first.
In our comfortable house, on our comfortable compound we do not notice anything of these water problems. There is always clean drinking water in our purifier and cool water flows from our taps. Our gardens are green because they get watered on daily basis. Basically, my yard has better excess to water then many Indians do... how backwards is that?
